"My goal is to record and share the history of the men I know and served alongside so their stores do not get forgotten in time. It's always the Mission of Time Line to provide a vehicle so that any Veteran, or their family, has a grassroots place to find these shared stories." said CPT Baker.
TLE utilizes the Awards and Recognition Program of the Marine Corps Historical Association, as approved by their Board of Directors, to provide a visual recognition to its members for sharing history, as well as vocational, and avocational learning. All TLE awards undergo the approval process of this third-party impartial Board.
The Historical Research Ribbon is adopted to provide members of TLE the opportunity to share knowledge, and provide a resource for historic research. It is a visual record of members who have recorded history and shared it with the public in a recognizable way.
The following ribbons are awarded to any member, or affiliated nonmember, regardless of rank, who completes the requirements as set forth. Those wishing to qualify for an Historical Research Ribbon must:
- Be a member in good standing, serving one year, or more, in the Corps.
- Assemble an authentic, or museum quality reproduction, period collection of artifacts that demonstrate the appearance of a serviceman, i.e. “impression”, of the era.
- Compile and publish, via the newsletter or online, an academic essay, documenting a Man, Unit, or Action; no submitted work may be considered for more than one ribbon.
- Essay shall be no less than two pages, or one thousand (1,000) words, whichever is greater, cite all sources and prepare a bibliography.
